Tuesday Thankful… November 26, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — melodiegrace @ 4:42 am

Today I am thankful for my home.  I really like where we live right now. It’s centrally located, we have great neighbors and it’s C-H-E-A-P!  We have plenty of room for things like stampin’, sleepin’, eatin’, (though we could do with some more space for cookin’), but not so much room that our meager furnishings look awkward.  On that note, I am also thankful that we plan to get new living room furniture soon! That’s right, for the first time in our marriage, we will actually be acquiring home goods that are not hand me downs.  This will be quite the adjustment.  I am looking forward to having a comfortable space to entertain! It will be a couple months, and some planning is in the works, even as I type.  Now, if i can just get David to go for these pillows by Thomas Paul

We moved in to our current abode just at a year ago.  The card below was done for a friend who was moving (Hi Scissor Mar!) See how this is all tying together?  While I am at it, let me say I am thankful we are not moving again this year…

Last, but not least, I am thankful for background stamps, without which, this card would not have been possible.  All supplies are SU!

Today I am thankful for my job.  I love that I work with great people, at a place that exists to serve humanity.  I like that what we do is counter-cultural, but totally about serving God as our King, and not the imperialistic society we have created in the US.  I don’t have a card to represent this particular thought process, so here is a picture of a card I made with some of my patterned paper (surprise!) for my Grandma for Christmas (but don’t worry, she doesn’t read my blog).fally-bird

Stampin’ Memories November 22, 2008

I was looking for pictures from high school for my upcoming 10 year reunion, when I came upon a small stash of cards I made for David a few years ago.  They made me realize how my style has changed since I first started stamping in 2004.  Then, with my very limited supplies, I tended towards a more vintage, eclectic, layered look.  This past year I have switched gears a bit to a cleaner, crisper style.  I have seen the same changes occurring in my decorating and fashion preferences.  It’s fun to recognize the parallels.

How has your personal and/or artistic style morph over the past few years?  Have you done anything to document this change?

The palm tree card was made for our third anniversary, the sundae for our fourth.  All supplies are SU!

Another thing I’ve noticed,  even though my husband values a clutter free lifestyle, he does have a sentimental side that causes him to keep small memorabilia- love that it pertains to me!

This is my fluffy cat, Pom Pom.  My neighbors thought his name was Pow Pow for a while, which I think is very humorous.  Pommy (as we often call his poofity self) is named after a character from Homestarrunner, a site I recommend you frequent for snippets of hilarity.  He is sleeping on my clean towels on a shelf above the washer and dryer.  I can barely deal with how cute he is.  Little snoozie…Pommy on Towels

Paper Post #1 November 6, 2008

As I mentioned in my last post, I have accumulated quite the stash of patterned paper.  I tend to hoard the paper, waiting for the prefect project to use it.  Well, guess how often the perfect project comes along! So the paper sits on a shelf (a very, very full shelf), collecting dust and never realizing it’s full potential.  This month I will focus on using up some of that wonderful printed papyrus.  Cards below are examples. More to come soon! Everything is SU.  you're neat

Sunny Sunday November 2, 2008

Hallelujah!  There is almost nothing I like more than a sunny Sunday, especially in the month of November!  I mourn the loss of warm weather each autumn, so this makes me feel a bit like I have won some sort of prize fight against the impending cold.  Take that in your face, Fall!

Today’s card is ode to Summer, my favorite season.  I have been focusing on using up some of my patterned paper lately, and this is a card that has come from that personal challenge.  The lady bug stamp and gingham paper came from a box of stuff I found at a garage sale, everything else is SU!

My dad is still in town, was here all week for a conference.  We are dissecting blogging together as I type…okay, seriously, stop laughing…
